Andy Burnham will deliver the keynote address at Propertymark’s Manchester Regional Conference on 16 September 2025.

Labour’s Mayor of Greater Manchester has grown popular in his position, which he first took up in 2017.

This year he launched the Good Landlord Charter, an initiative to improve rental standards for private and social tenants. He also launched a £300 million housing investment fund and created a spatial framework for the whole of Greater Manchester.

Nathan Emerson, chief executive at Propertymark, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to Propertymark’s Manchester Regional Conference this year.

“Housing and the private rented sector in particular are key priorities for the Mayor, so it will be a fantastic opportunity for members to understand more about the Mayor’s Good Landlord Charter and how they can be part of the solution to driving up standards working with landlords, tenants and local authorities.”

Other speakers at the conference will include Christian Balshen, director of agency partnerships at Rightmove, Alex Jeffrey, partner at Bright Solicitors, and James Munro, head of the national trading standards and estate letting agency team.

The Mayor will then be introduced to a session entitled ‘Your housing priorities for Greater Manchester’ that starts from 12.15pm and finishes at 12.45pm.

Other current issues impacting Propertymark members include the Renters’ Rights Bill which is in its final stages, the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards which will guarantee private rented sector properties meet an EPC C rating by 2030, updates to the Decent Homes Standard to ensure all private rented sector housing is safe and sustainable, and engaging with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to improve the home buying and selling process.

Propertymark has doubled the size of its conference programmes and offers members a free place at an annual national or regional conference.
